Name the Reindeer Contest

by EMP Editor on December 9, 2015

In the spirit of the holiday season, we once again have a large stuffed animal sitting in our lobby, and this cuddly guy is awaiting a name (see his pic below).  This year we have a giant four foot reindeer, outfitted with a red ribbon and Santa hat.  Oh, by the way, his ribbon says, “Santa shops at!”  Where else, of course?!  Our big, stuffed Mr. Reindeer is definitely a charming fellow.

We would like to give the reindeer a name, and are asking for creative input from our customers.  The only catch is that you can’t call him Rudolph – that would be too easy a pick!  Please enter our Name the Reindeer Contest by emailing your suggestion to  We’ll collect all the entries and have our employees vote for the best and most creative name.

On December 17th we’ll announce the winner on our blog.  We’ll also ship the newly named reindeer the same day, so our winner will have him arriving on their doorstep just in time for the holiday season.

There is still time to take advantage of our gift ideas in the Holiday Gift Shoppe, so please take a moment to look for those last minute gifts for friends and family.  From holiday cards, to personal items, to EMS bears, we have you covered.

CPR & AED Awareness Week Is June 1-7, 2015

by EMP Editor on June 3, 2015

We’re in the midst of CPR & AED Awareness Week!  What have you done to raise awareness in your community?

Cardiac arrest strikes immediately and without warning.  It’s never too late to go over some basics, so let’s review the warning signs and emergency treatment of cardiac arrest.

Here are the signs:

Sudden loss of responsiveness

  • No response to tapping on shoulders
  • Does nothing when you ask if he’s OK

If these signs of cardiac arrest are present:

Yell for help

  • Tell someone to call 9-1-1 and get an AED (if one is available)
  • If you are alone with an adult who has these signs of cardiac arrest, call 9-1-1 and get an AED (if one is available)

Check breathing

  • If the person isn’t breathing or is only gasping, give CPR

Push hard and push fast

  • Use an AED as soon as it arrives by turning it on and following the prompt

Keep pushing

  • Until the person starts to breathe or move or someone with more advanced training takes over

EMP carries a huge selection of AEDs, including recertified AEDs, CPR pocket masks, and the NEW CPR RsQ Assist®, as well as assorted CPR manikins for your teaching and training needs.
